Here are some comments from previous students about the courses designed with social simulation.

We were provided the opportunity to apply what we know to a real-world concept, which leads to authentic and comprehensive learning – at least for me! I firmly believe more classes should incorporate this kind of work into the curriculum so students have greater opportunities to truly apply what they have learned.

I liked that the overall project was broken down into smaller segments. The program investigation allowed us to see how the principles we explored in our literature reviews were being incorporated into existing programs.

Something in particular that I enjoyed about this class was the freedom and autonomy. For example, in terms of our topics we were able to pick and choose what was interesting to us. Even within several of the other assignments we aren’t stuck all doing the same thing. That has allowed us to learn from one another but also to cover a larger spectrum and variety of adult education theories and topics.

I have taken a lot of online classes but I can say I have never done a blog so that has been something unique and different ...

The group project helped me see how easy it is to implement the learning theories we discuss. Before this class, I understood the purpose of the grad program but I wasn’t sure how to apply the things I learned in a classroom or community setting. Through group discussion and evaluations, I feel confident I can take what I’ve learned and apply it in the field.
